But I'm frustrated with the licensing for Surveillance Station! Those things should not be considered luxuries, where company's make people pay exorbitant fees on top of what has already been paid. The solution is flawless, and I really appreciate everything that Synology has done in order to make such a great product. . Get more people onboard and don't penalize your customer for a stupid license. This is not recent news however. I guess I'm frustrated with the fact that we have to pay for additional security, peace of mind, and safety. First off, I'll start by saying that the Synology is a great appliance, and I think that everyone should consider a backup solution with similar features.
Catch up to the 21st century already. I'm not on the bandwagon anymore. So check out your two free licenses first before shelling any money out for this abandoned Synology App. It's weird, too, because Synology provides great services and tools elsewhere in their products. Even this license, works as advertised. Allow these licenses to be downloadable -- even on Amazon. Having to pay for these licenses as a personal, home user rubs me the wrong way.
We're loyal customers, that love your product. Being a developer, I understand why the appliance is so expensive. There is a lot of customization and thought that goes into the software behind this juggernaut of a backup solution. Would not compare it with low cost or free products only bcs with those you are also getting lots of headache and extra work. I wanted to give synology a shot at one of our store locations. But a license, that doesn't cost you anything to develop.
Just about one month after I bought one license to be able to use my three cameras, the browsers are not supported. Make it an instant License Code! They say that it works with Firefox, but I have issues having the video to scale up on my high resolution Lenovo laptop. Just take a look at the other reviews. There should be a trial period. As I'm researching and buying new cameras, I'm not always 100% confident that the camera will work or work well with Synology Surveillance Station. I'll be checking out another backup solution soon, just because of these licensing tactics.
But they need to consider 3 things that I believe would be make it better and thus, sell more licenses : 1. I know that I'm beating a dead horse. . . .
